The Transcript Sampler Became the Performance App I First Imagined
The original idea was simple: read the words and get the sample. DS 1.5 gives that phrase somewhere to go after the first chop.

The original Quota idea was the Intelligent Phrase Chopper. I wanted the pads of a sampler, with the transcript acting as the map through a long piece of speech. Read the line, select it, put it on a pad.
That idea became Quota Mini, then Quota DS. The name changed as the work grew, but the transcript is still the quickest way in.
The sample was only the beginning
A good line does not finish the piece by itself. It needs timing, space, another sound to answer it, and a way to capture the performance. Those are the jobs DS 1.5 brings together around the original chopper.
The pads can hold audio and video. Sound shaping lives with each pad. Q-FX and Q-VFX give the audio and picture their own performance controls, while the mixer provides a place to balance the result.
It becomes possible to stay with the idea longer before moving it into another application.
A performance can become an arrangement
The timeline gives a take another life. The gestures you played can become clips you move, trim, loop, and arrange. Skip-back makes the moment before Record part of the workflow too.
That connection matters to the original idea. Reading is a fast way to find the material; playing is a fast way to discover what it could become. The arrangement is where you can make a decision about what stays.
Sound and picture belong together
Dialogue often starts in a video. Keeping its picture attached to a pad can make the sample useful as a visual performance as well as a sound. Captions and MP4 output belong in that same chain.
There are practical boundaries. Different export paths carry different processing, and the arrangement renderer has documented limits. The release note and product page describe those so you can choose the right path for the result you want.
The smaller idea is still there
You can still open DS for one quote, make one pad, and drag a file out. The larger workspace is useful when that quote turns into something worth developing.
The current 1.5.1 maintenance build also repairs URL imports after changes upstream. Local files remain the most dependable source when a video service changes its behavior.
Read the DS 1.5 release story and 1.5.1 notes for the full workflow. Existing Mini licenses still carry over to DS.
